WHAT IS THE WHITE CLOUD TELE-MENTAL HEALTH SERVICE?

White Cloud Tele-Mental Health is a free service offering evidence-based support for people experiencing changes to their mental health and wellbeing. Symptoms that we commonly help treat are related to:

  • Trouble with sleeping
  • Stress
  • Worry
  • Financial hardship
  • Feeling overwhelmed
  • Dealing with relationship or family issues
  • Coping with change

Service endorsed by:

We can also help you take a proactive approach to managing your mental health by assisting with:

  • Improving wellness
  • Building health coping skills
  • Finding work-life balance

The service is run by professional, trained staff, who volunteer their time to work in the service. At any time, the team may include psychologists, social workers, dietitians, mental health nurses and exercise specialists. We are also proud to partner with many major universities across Australia and offer clinical experience to students completing their clinical training.

The White Cloud Tele-Mental Health Service is operated under the guidance of White Cloud Foundation’s Clinical Advisory Group chaired by Dr Angela White.

White Cloud Foundation acknowledges and supports the Australian Charter of Health Care Rights and abides by its own Charter of Rights to protect and serve everyone seeking and/or receiving care through its White Cloud Tele-Mental Health Service.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

A person interested in seeking help for their depression or anxiety, simply needs to call us on 07 3155 3456 (generally just the cost of a local call). They will speak to one of our qualified team members who will assess their needs and schedule appointments with relevant clinicians. These appointments will then take place via videoconferencing or telephone – whatever the client is most comfortable with. The frequency and types of sessions provided to each client will be decided on a needs-based assessment. Each client will generally receive an average of six sessions.

WHO CAN USE THE SERVICE?

The White Cloud Tele-Mental Health Service is available to all people over 12 years of age in Australia, no matter where you live. All appointments are conducted via telehealth, so there is no need to travel.

It is important to note, however, that we are not a crisis service. If you are in crisis, dial 000 or Lifeline. Our service operates during office hours, 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.

A client can either self-refer by calling 07 3155 3456 direct or clicking on the link below. By clicking on the link below and answering the preliminary questions, you can also determine if our service is right for you.

Please note, if you are aged 12-18 years, you will need to call to make an appointment rather than use the self-referral form.

GPs, local hospitals, workplaces, or other community organisations are also welcome to refer their own clients and patients to the service. To refer a patient to the service, simply click on the button below and complete the referral form. You must have the patient’s consent to refer them. Once we receive the referral form, we will contact them to set a suitable time for their first appointment with a clinician.

If your client is aged 12-18 years, please call 07 3155 3456 to discuss before completing the referral form.

A White Cloud client does not require a mental health plan.

WHY IS OUR TELE-MENTAL HEALTH SERVICE DIFFERENT?

White Cloud does not just provide counselling or psychological services, it treats depression from multiple angles, providing both clinical and practical care.

White Cloud treats the body as well as the mind and emotions with clients receiving care from dietitians and exercise physiologists as well as social workers and psychologists.

On a practical side, we can assist clients with many of the issues causing their stress or depression. This can include assistance with budgeting and creditor management, home services, self-care and social interaction.

DELIVERING CULTURALLY COMPETENT CARE

White Cloud Foundation has a Correct Identification Policy in place to ensure Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People receive optimal and appropriate treatment and support to improve mental wellness.  Correct identification of Indigenous status will also assist us in the planning and provision of appropriate and improved health care and services for the future.

We therefore ask all clients if they identify as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Person.

If you do not want to share your identification status, that is completely fine.  Answers to the majority of questions asked by White Cloud Foundation staff are voluntary and are only asked to assist us with developing your treatment plan. You only need to share what you feel comfortable with.  The only information we do require as mandatory is your name, age, and a phone number to contact you on.

If you are younger than 15 years, we will ask your parents to provide us with your identification details when they complete the treatment consent form.

If you’d like further information or to ask any questions, please email us on: info@whitecloudfoundation.org
