Gold Coast lunch raises $67K

White Cloud Foundation would like to thank everyone that attended the Gold Coast Boardies & Bubbles Lunch on 11 June at Shuck Restaurant on Tedder Avenue.

This lunch was held to raise vital funds for White Cloud programs including Meals for Mums and the soon-to-be-launched STRATUS Tele-Mental Health Solution.

Our event sponsors – Cognitive Financial Partners, Harcourts Coastal, Prestige Cars Group, Archers The Strata Professionals and Fund My Challenge – along with some very generous auction bidders and raffle ticket buyers, helped us raise over $67,000 to operate these programs.

Our beautiful Gold Coast Champion, Melissa Whittley, spoke on the day about her personal experience with perinatal depression and the importance of having support, particularly through the provision of meals. As a result of Melissa’s inspirational speech, Mike McHenry from Seamless Bookkeeping beat out other bidders to pay an amazing $10,000 to become sponsor of the Meals for Mums service on the Gold Coast for the next year.

Other highlights on the day included an update on the STRATUS service from White Cloud Founder and Chair, Professor Adam Scott, some spirited auctioneering by both AFL legend Jason Akermanis and Harcourts Coastal’s Dane Atherton, brilliant compering by Wallaby great Dan Crowley, and a hilarious performance by comedic ventriloquist Darren Carr.

There were also a few other special guests there on the day including Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate, Member for Surfers Paradise John-Paul Langroek MP, actor Lincoln Lewis, surfing legend Nev Hyman plus big wave surfer and White Cloud ambassor Ryan Hipwood.

Our next Boardies & Bubbles Lunch will be happening in Brisbane on Friday 8 October.
